Description
The statue was designed by American sculptor Alexander Stirling Calder, and was a gift from the United States to Iceland to commemorate the 1000 year anniversary of the parliament of Iceland. It is located on a hill in the center of Reykjavik, in front of the Hallgrimskirkja Church, and commands a view of the harbor and surrounding city.
